Discover the contemporary art island, Naoshima and Yayoi Kusama

Would you like to discover a fun contemporary art in Japan? There are islands which are designed as art or museum islands in Seto Island Sea in Kagawa. The most famous and well known island is called Naoshima and you can take ferry to there from Takamatsu.

Naoshima is a tiny island town having about 3500 populations and inspired by the James Bond novel of “The Man with the Red Tatto” There are many museums ,outdoor sculptures and houses of art all over in the island. You can rent a bicycle or take a bus to trip all over the island.

The most famous sculptures are red and yellow pumpkins by Yayoi Kusama. Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese pop art artists born in Nagono, Japan. You may see her art work or project in museum in New York or maybe some of her work for Luis Vitton or Marc Jacob recently.
