Official engagement ceremony called “YUINO”

A yuino is an official engagement ceremony, in which both families gather and exchange betrothal money and gifts etc. , and it is usually held at the bride’s home.
In general, this ceremony is held three to six months prior to a wedding.

The groom’s family prepares betrothal items and gives betrothal money and an engagement ring to the bride’s family.
Then, the bride’s family gives commemorative presents in return to the groom’s family.
The amount of the betrothal money and items differ according to area and family.

In recent year, a number of restaurants and hotels arrange “yuino package” and it is popular to use this package among couples.
Also, a yuino is more simplified as both families just meet at a restaurant or hotel and have lunch or dinner to get to know each other better.
