Pochi-bukuro is such an excitement for children

In Japan adults give children money in the beginning of the year (usually January 1st). When money is given it’s put in a envelope called pochi-bukuro. There are many kinds and design of pochi-bukuro; for example, characters, patterns, made with origami, and so on. In December we see pochi-bukuro sold in many stores.

When children see pochi-bukuro, they get excited because they know what it means. Well, I would say they get excited about the inside of the pochi-bukuro, rather than the pochi-bukuro itself. But I remember that when I was a little child, I was excited to get a pochi-bukuro of a super hero rather than money.
