Hoshiimo = Dried yams – a sweet and healthy snack

As one of snacks there is hoshiimo in Japan. How it’s made is that cooked and sliced yams are dried under the sun. It takes couple days. But that’s all – simple, isn’t it?

By drying sliced yams, the sweetness increases. There is a lot of fiber and no sugar contains in hoshiimo, so it’s a very healthy food. Hoshiimo has a chewy texture which is good to make a jaw stronger. Some people eat without anything, and some people like to toast hoshiimo.

Many parents give hoshiimo to children as a snack as it’s much healthier than chips, chocolate, and so on.
