Halloween in Japan has grown significantly
in the past decade from an obscure western tradition to a day of colorful
Halloween decorations, candies, costumes, parties and parades. If you glanced
around Japanese department stores in late September throughout October, you
would see that Halloween has become quite the holiday in Japan.
Many of the major Japanese cities, towns,
shopping malls, and amusement parks hold Halloween events and parties
throughout the month. However, this is still only observed by a fraction of the
population, and it’s rare to see trick-or-treating or jack-o-lantern carving.
Despite their moderate following, the Japanese are becoming more and more
interested in Western style holidays such as Christmas and Halloween. Halloween
events are going to be more popular every year.
