Did you know that the traditional Japanese paper “Washi” is essential to restore the old master paintings?
Few days ago there was a TV program showing that “Washi” is used to restore the old master paintings at the most famous museum Louvre.
“Washi” uses long fiber so it is strong and superior in durability compare to papers. However the raw materials of “Washi” are very expensive and also they are made in traditional way by hand so they cost higher than the paper. Recently there are also machine-made “Washi” for the mass production.
Japanese “Washi” has over 1000 years of its history and now they are manufactured many kinds at many prefectures.
